Ghostbusters

Surprisingly controversial on its release, this all-women reboot of the beloved spook-chasing series is at least as good as its predecessor, 1989's Ghostbusters II. Following the pattern of the original film, this re-teams Bridesmaids stars Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy as New York scientists who start a "Metaphysical Examination" business with their oddball colleague Kate McKinnon. The three are on fine form, but it's Leslie Jones (rounding out the Ghostbuster team) and Chris Hemsworth (as their secretary) who get the biggest laughs.
