Comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Divorcee Lauren and widower Jim suffer an awful blind date, only to find that their families are also accidentally booked onto the same African vacation. As their kids try to make the best of it, the parents find themselves connecting in a way they never did on their first date.
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore have chemistry and history. In fact, they've done some of their best work together. Sadly, this bloated romantic comedy isn't in the same class as The Wedding Singer or 50 First Dates. Here the stars play single parents who, after a disastrous blind date, unexpectedly find themselves and their five kids all on holiday at the same African safari resort. That contrived but killer combination of kids and critters ensures much lowbrow slapstick, as well as the occasional - and much more welcome - subtler moment. But, ultimately, this comedy is long and laboured, and at its best on the odd occasions when not trying too hard to be funny.
