The monster muscle-car franchise continues to relentlessly assault the senses in this globe-trotting sequel, with horror maestro James Wan's direction adding extra high-style brilliance to proceedings. Working with shady government agent Kurt Russell, Vin Diesel and his crew attempt to recover God's Eye, a super-surveillance device that's also wanted by terrorist Djimon Hounsou. However, former black ops assassin Jason Statham is out to thwart their plans and exact his own revenge after his brother (Luke Evans) is left hospitalised. The perfunctory plot exists solely to showcase the absolutely absurd but astounding daredevil action, which is pushed to the spectacular limit. From the parachuting car free-fall drop and mountain roadside raid to the jump between the Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi and a super-drone battle in Los Angeles, the epic excitement is expertly rendered on the largest canvas for the highest speed thrill-ride. The film is dedicated to Paul Walker, who died during production, and the send-off he receives from his movie "family" is both moving and fitting.
