Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

In another brave but not necessarily commercial post-Potter role, Daniel Radcliffe plays an Israeli adventure-seeker who is enticed off the tourist track and becomes lost in the dark heart of the jungles of Bolivia. Complete with an Israeli accent, Radcliffe here suffers for his art as Australian director Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) pits him against such familiar jungle perils as river rapids, fire ants, foot rot and quicksand. Radcliffe can certainly act and, after impressing with Kill Your Darlings and Swiss Army Man, he no longer needs to prove it. But he's still seeking out films intended to attract his Potter audience. This is a fact-based film that treads no new survival-drama ground, but it's well made, gruelling and watchable.
