Reign of the Supermen

Picking up six months after the tragic events depicted in The Death of Superman (2018), this animated follow-up returns to a world still reeling from the murder of the Man of Steel by rampaging rage-monster Doomsday. But with his body having vanished, could any of the four pretenders to his mantle - cocky clone Superboy, armoured do-gooder Steel, the brutal Eradicator, the Cyborg Superman - be the real Superman resurrected? Reporter and grieving lover Lois Lane (voiced by Rebecca Romijn) is determined to find out. This durable adventure stays close to the narrative of the original 1993 comic series, except it's Darkseid (instead of lesser-known villain Mongul) looming large as the cosmic threat to Earth in the absence of Metropolis's finest. It's hard to match the emotional heft of its predecessor but a plethora of epic smackdowns should sate fans of the DC Animated Movie Universe.
