A childhood prank turns nasty and sends innocent victim Chauncey Page to jail in this urban mash-up of Prom Night and I Know What You Did Last Summer. Years later, the pranksters attending Compton High get a shock when a freed Chauncey (Jason Woods), now a hooded teenage hulk, is back on the streets of their neighbourhood. Could he be thirsting for vengeance or is it just mere coincidence that his grown-up tormentors are meeting grisly ends? It's certainly refreshing change to feature a black cast at the mercy of maniac mayhem in South Central, LA, but the pacing and the gore quota leaves much to be desired. A worthy stab at the slasher genre, then, but with old-school slayers like Halloween's Michael Myers and Child's Play devil-doll Chucky still enjoying regular makeovers, the bogeyman bar remains too high for this underpowered effort.
