A star rating of 3 out of 5.

Mark Williams

The fourth entry in the animated action franchise finds Po, the eponymous "dragon warrior", at the top of his game fighting the good fight to protect the Valley of Peace. However, his mentor Shifu (Dustin Hoffman) decrees that now is the time to hand over his title to a younger model in the form of grey fox Zhen (Awkwafina). Before that can happen, Po must deal with a shape-shifting lizard (Viola Davis) whose dastardly plan involves bringing back a cadre of evildoers from previous films. As ever, Po is voiced with gravelly charm by Jack Black, and there are fun returns for past characters including Po's father (Bryan Cranston) and the snow leopard Tai Lung (Ian McShane). Filled with visual jokes and tongue-in-cheek one-liners, this is as colourful as it is satisfying.
