Troubled teen Cooke may have returned in the special Skins series 7, but the actor who plays him – 26-year-old Jack O'Connell – has more than moved on from his time in the e4 teen drama.

Since leaving the E4 show in 2010 O'Connell has starred in The Runaway, Weekender, The Somnambulists, Tower Block, The Liability, Private Peaceful and 300: Rise of an Empire. But it's really the last couple of years that has seen O'Connell tipped as a rising star, with acclaimed performances in Starred U, '71 and Money Monster while emerging as the best thing from Angelina Jolie's flawed Unbroken.

Luke Pasqualino

As Skins' Freddie, Luke Pasqualino adorned many a teenage girl's bedroom wall (we assume...) before leaving the series after his character was brutally murdered – anyone else still struggling to get that scene out of their heads?

Luckily, Pasqualino's acting career hasn't suffered a similar fate. The 26-year-old has since starred as Paolo in The Borgias, young Adama in Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome and Jason in hit BBC1 sitcom Miranda, with perhaps his most prominent recent role playing D'Artagnan in BBC1's The Musketeers or Elvis in war drama Our Girl.

Freya Mavor

From a bitchy college girl dealing with teen pregnancy to Princess Elizabeth of York. She's certainly going up in the world! You might recognise Freya, who played Mini McGuinness (is there a better TV name?!) in Skins, from new Sunday night period drama The White Queen or from New Worlds alongside fellow Skins alumnus Joe Dempsie.

Alexander Arnold

He played a long-haired rocker turned bereaved boyfriend in Skins but you might recognise him from starring alongside Hermione Norris and Martin Clunes in ITV drama A Mother's Son. The 24-year-old has also appeared in In The Flesh, Moths, The Salvation and What Remains alongside Shameless' David Threlfall, and as an unlucky tenant in BBC1's Poldark.

Most recently, he appeared in tense drama Capital, Death in Paradise and Ricky Gervais movie David Brent: Life on the Road.

She already made something of a name (and what a name) for herself before joining the cast of Skins as Lyra in The Golden Compass, but since appearing in the fifth and sixth series of Skins, Richards' career has continued to thrive. She played Eve in supernatural drama Lightfields and starred as Eloise in film The Fold, and now has a regular role as WPC Trewlove in ITV's Morse prequel Endeavour.
