Grantchester season 6: release date, plot, cast and latest news
ITV's unlikely crime-solving duo will return sooner than expected.
Robson Green and Tom Brittney reunite for the sixth season of ITV's Grantchester, the Cambridgeshire-set crime drama.
In the latest trailer, Reverend Will Davenport and his crime-solving partner DI Geordie Keating are heading off to Merries Holiday Camp for a much-needed break in episode one, with Unforgotten's Andy Nyman guest-starring in the series six premiere. Unsurprisingly, however, Davenport and Keating are back to work when the camp's owner, Roy Reeves, is discovered dead.
The new trailer also teased the arrival of Will's step-sister Tamara, played by Poldark's Emily Patrick, as well as a guest appearance from The Thick of It star Rebecca Front.
We'll also see a "sexually liberated" Will begin to start dating in earnest. Speaking to RadioTimes.com and other press, Tom Brittney teased a "shock" romantic storyline for Reverend Will Davenport.
Last week, Robson Green teased that Davenport and Keating's relationship is set to become "incredibly volatile" during series six, adding: "It’s all about Geordie not seeing the world how Will sees it and Will not seeing the world how Geordie sees it and conflict occurs."
It hopefully won't be the end of the duo's unlikely friendship as ITV confirmed last month that Grantchester would be returning to our screens for a seventh series, set in the summer of 1959.

"The cast and crew have worked tirelessly to bring the series to the screen and we know the audience are very excited to see what Will, Geordie and the Grantchester family have in store for them.”

Grantchester season 6 plot
Set in 1958, the first episode of season six will see the pair attempting to unwind at a holiday camp – only to wind up investigating a murder at the resort.
ITV has teased: “As events unfold on the trip, there will be serious repercussions for the rest of the series.”
The season five finale also saw a shock twist, when Tom Brittney’s Reverend Will Davenport broke his vow of celibacy – by sleeping with a nun, the older and unconventional Sister Grace (Tracy-Ann Oberman).
"You've had sex! You sly old dog... You've slept with your boss's missus!" Detective Geordie Keating responded with glee after guessing Will's secret.
Could season five's twist mean that the Cambridgeshire vicar will now be more open to romance in the upcoming season?
