The 14 sneakiest Doctor Who video game Easter Eggs
There’s no way you spotted all these secret Whoniverse callbacks
13. Fallout: NuWho Vegas
The guys behind this 2010 game must have been even bigger Who fans than those who made the original Fallout (see above), because they stuffed even nerdier references to the sci-fi series in amongst the action.
At one point in the game, when facing a particular enemy (the Y-17 Trauma override harness, fact fans) and after enabling a perk called Wild Wasteland, players can make their foes say “Hey, who turned out the lights?” in a reference to 2008 Who episode Silence in the Library, which features a similarly-skeletal monster with the same catchphrase.
And that’s not all – at another point in the game, a radio broadcast can be heard saying “Bravo Bravo Charlie, the Doctor is coming”, in a clear reference to both Doctor Who and the broadcaster it’s made by – the BBC.
14. Dammed if you Who
After one mission in the pop culture-savvy Borderlands 2, a roll call for some deceased construction workers names four classic Doctors – Hartnell, W., Troughton, P, Pertwee, J. and Baker, T – aka William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker.
Now, we’re not sure about how the very much alive Tom Baker would feel about being grouped in with his actually-deceased predecessors, but hey – we’re sure the game-makers’ hearts were in the right place.
Doctor Who will return to BBC One this Christmas, and for a full series in 2017
