Sex/Life season 2 landed on Netflix on Thursday 2nd March 2023, with all six episodes dropping at once as a binge watch launch.

Filming for season 2 began in February 2022, according to star Adam Demos, who confirmed the start date on Instagram last year, posting an image with the caption: "Almost time to start @sexlife season 2. Pumped!"

The series was renewed for a second season back in September 2021, three months on from its initial premiere, after Netflix reported it had reached a whopping 67 million households.

Speaking after the renewal, series creator and showrunner Stacy Rukeyser said: "Sex/Life is a dream come true. To create a show about empowered female sexuality that has entranced so many millions of viewers is not only immensely fun but also incredibly gratifying.

"When I think about all the women who have reached out from all over the world to say that the show speaks to them in a deeply personal way, I am so inspired. I'm thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to continue telling this story for Billie, and for all of us."

Sex/Life cast: Who stars in season 2?

What happened in Sex/Life season 1? Full recap

**WARNING: SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1**

After eight episodes, plenty of passionate sex scenes, and some full-frontal nudity from Adam Demos, Sex/Life season 1 came to an end with a sudden twist as Billie made a seismic decision in the closing moments of the show; that she would demand sex from Brad while staying married to Cooper.

The preceding episodes were focused on the love triangle between Billie, her husband, Cooper, and her ex-boyfriend, Brad – but the steamy sex with the ex-boyfriend was initially all in the past, living in Billie's brain and the pages of her journal. That is, until her obsession grew, and Brad started trying to worm his way back into her life.

As Netflix put it: "Billie wasn’t always a stay-at-home wife and mother living in the suburbs. Before she married loving and reliable Cooper and moved to Connecticut, Billie was a free-spirited wild child living in New York City with her best friend Sasha (Margaret Odette), working hard and playing even harder.

"Exhausted from taking care of her two young kids and feeling nostalgic for her past, Billie starts journaling and fantasising about her passionate exploits with sexy ex-boyfriend Brad (Adam Demos), the big heartbreak she never got over. But the more Billie remembers, the more she wonders how she got here – and then her husband finds her journal."

After Cooper found Billie's journal, he was pretty upset and they went through plenty of ups and downs. Billie wasn't sure what she wanted, and Cooper was devastated and desperate to save his marriage. Still, by the end, it seemed that Billie had chosen to stick with Cooper and her kids, embracing suburban life while also getting her career back on track.

But no! In a sudden twist right at the end, Billie ran back to Brad – with a new decision. She made it clear that she won't be leaving her husband, but that she wants a sexual relationship with Brad that picked up where things left off a decade before. Not many TV shows would end with the words "now f**k me", but hey – that's Sex/Life for you.

“It was always intended to be a shocking realisation for Billie,” showrunner Stacy Rukeyser told TVLine. “She loves both her children, but she’s in this world with other parents who seem to be fulfilled with just this world, and it’s not enough for her. There is this other part of her, this more sexual self, this wild or free part of herself that she wants to experience.”

But even if Billie doesn't want to end her marriage, Cooper might call it a day. On his phone, he was able to see that his wife had run off to Manhattan – and obviously to Brad. That's when he put in a call to his boss, Francesca, who has made it explicitly clear that she wants him to leave Billie and get together with her.

Suffice to say, there's a lot to cover in season 2.
