What’s it about?

The Sexual Offences Act 1967 may have partly decriminalised gay sex between two men (who were aged at least 21 and not serving in the armed forces), but for some homosexuals it merely highlighted the unfairness in society. This includes dapper gent Jackie, an elder member of the LGBT community who still sees a long way to go before equality is achieved.

Who’s in it?

Veteran actor Ian Gelder. If you don’t know him from his roles in the Snatch TV series and Torchwood: Children of Earth then you may recognise his face from Game of Thrones as Kevan Lannister.

Who wrote it?

Matthew Baldwin, an actor and writer well accustomed to the 1967 Sexual Offence Act. It served as the backdrop to his 2013 one-man play The Act, a production that went on to be performed on the London West End.

This exploration of the black LGBT experience is explored through Fredrick, a young gay man who’s managed to find refuge from the Blitz in the most unlikely of places.

Who’s in it?

Kadiff Kirwan, who Chewing Gum fans will know as Candice’s boyfriend Aaron. You could also see Kirwan briefly in Black Mirror episode Nosedive as Chester and as Jason in BBC3 comedy Crims.

Who wrote it?

Keith Jarrett who, as well as working as a PhD scholar at Birkbeck University, is also a former UK poetry slam champion. Safest Spot in Town marks Jarrett’s first time writing for TV.
