Meet the cast of Broadchurch series 3
Who's who in David Tennant and Olivia Colman's final Broadchurch mystery?
Jim Atwood – Mark Bazeley
Self-made man Jim runs the local garage. In his heyday he was something of a ladies’ man, with plenty of pulling power and sparkle. But life and years on the job have taken their toll, meaning Jim isn’t quite the man he used to be. Could he have taken his frustrations out on his friend?
Home Fires fans will recognise Bazeley as Bob Simms, the abusive and angry husband of Claire Rushbrook’s Pat, while others will know him as Alastair Campbell from The Special Relationship and The Queen. Oh, and you might have spotted him in The Bourne Ultimatum too.
Cath Atwood – Sarah Parish
Trish’s best friend Cath is the life and soul of the party, and well like around Broadchurch. She married high school sweetheart Jim 30 years ago and they’ve stayed together all that time. But Mr and Mrs Perfect may well be far from it… Could the events of Cath’s 50th birthday cause their façade to crumble?
Peak Practice star Parish hasn’t really been off our TV screens for the past 20 or so years. The Cutting It actress has popped up alongside David Tennant in Blackpool and Doctor Who (not to mention W1A) and had roles in Merlin, Mistresses and The Pillars of The Earth too. More recently you’ll have spotted her in Atlantis, Trollied and The Collection, with the odd role in big screen flicks like The Holiday under her belt too.
Maggie Radcliffe - Carolyn Pickles
Broadchurch Echo editor Maggie was last seen reconciling with her beloved Jocelyn but the course of true love never did run smooth. Where will we find her three years later?
Emmerdale’s Shelley Williams is also known as The Bill’s DCI Kim Reid and Land Girls’ Mrs Gulliver. She’s popped up in numerous TV series including Foyle’s War, Inspector Lewis, Bluebell and May To December. To a generation she’s Doris of Through The Dragon’s Eye, or Sally Bilton from We’ll Meet Again, while others will know her as Margaret Kelly from Bluebell. Oh and those who watched Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 very closely will recognise her as murdered Muggle Studies teacher Charity Burbage.
Paul Coates - Arthur Darvill
Vicar Paul is still in Broadchurch three years after Danny’s trial and trying to help the community muddle through daily life.
Arthur Darvill will be best known to a generation as Doctor Who’s Rory Williams (later Pond) but he’s also popped up in US sci-fi hit Legends of Tomorrow (not playing The Doctor, just a time traveller in a very similar coat by the name of Rip Hunter) and Danny and The Human Zoo. Oh, and he’s also been busy writing the music for a Fantastic Mr Fox musical.
