Meet the cast of Sherlock series 4
From the box office blockbusters to the all-important supporting stars, here's who's who in the fourth series of Sherlock and where you may have seen them before
Lindsay Duncan – Lady Smallwood
Meet Lady Smallwood Lady Elizabeth (or should that be Alicia?) Smallwood is a powerful member of the British government who first came to Sherlock's notice as a victim of blackmail by series three villain Charles Augustus Magnussen. She works closely with Mycroft and it looks as if she might even have some romantic interest in him. But after she was referred to earlier in the series as Elizabeth Smallwood, why does the card she gave him say her name is Alicia?
What else has Lindsay Duncan been in? Lindsay Duncan is a highly respected British actor with major roles including Barbara Douglas in Alan Bleasdale's 1991 drama GBH and Servilia in BBC/HBO historical drama Rome, while Doctor Who fans will know her from 2009 special The Waters of Mars and Black Mirror viewers may remember her as Home Secretary Alex Cairns in infamous pig episode The National Anthem.
Recent film roles have included Alice's mother in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and acerbic theatre critic Tabitha Dickinson in Birdman, alongside Michael Keaton.
