Amanda Abbington – Mary Watson

What else has Amanda Abbington been in? A veteran of all the usual TV suspects – including Casualty and no fewer than seven roles in The Bill – Abbington met future partner Martin Freeman on the set of TV film Men Only. In the 15 years since, they’ve acted together several times, culminating in their screen wedding on Sherlock, after which Watson discovered his new bride was actually a trained assassin. Awks.
Since 2013, Abbington has played the lovelorn Miss Mardle in ITV’s department store drama Mr Selfridge, and was recently seen pounding the beat in Brighton as DS Jo Moffat (no relation) in BBC police drama Cuffs.
