Peaky Blinders director on finale: "We've pulled off a very beautiful ending"
"It's kind of perfect."
Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne has assured fans of the show that the season 6 finale will be one to remember for all the right reasons.
The BBC crime drama, which follows the exploits of Birmingham gangster and MP Tommy Shelby and his inner circle, first arrived on our screens back in 2013 and has, over time, more than doubled its audience thanks to creator Steven Knight's bombastic storytelling and several standout performances.
But Sunday 3rd April will see the show make its final TV outing prior to the Peaky Blinders film, which is currently in the early stages of development.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com about the finale, Byrne explained: "I said it once before to somebody else, endings of much-loved TV shows seem to be a very challenging feat to pull off, and I think we've done it.
"That's what I would say to you. I'm going to be very confident in saying that we have pulled off a very beautiful ending."
He added: "I can also say that if the film never happened and this was the last time we saw Tommy Shelby, it's kind of perfect."
Peaky Blinders episode 5 set the scene for an explosive finale, with Michael Gray now set to snuff out Tommy once and for all – and it's not looking good for Arthur either, with mobster Jack Nelson ordering Billy Grade aka the 'Black Cat' to ensure that Tommy's brother suffers the same fate.

But even if Michael – or any of Tommy's enemies – don't succeed in murdering him, he looks set to meet a grisly end regardless, although you'd be forgiven for being sceptical given his ability to wriggle out of tight spots.
Are the Shelby patriarch's days really numbered? Or does he have one final big trick up his sleeve?
Peaky Blinders season 6 wraps up on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm on Sunday 3rd April 2022.
