The original cast of ITV's The Worst Witch: where are they now?
From Miss Cackle's Academy to Hollyoaks and a galaxy far far away, what happened to Mildred Hubble & co?
Clare Coulter – Miss Amelia Cackle
Coulter played kindly headmistress Miss Cackle in both The Worst Witch and The New Worst Witch, before moving back to her native Canada. She was already a well known actress before the series aired and has popped up in Helix and American Gothic since hanging up her broom.
Kate Duchêne – Miss Constance Hardbroom
Arguably one of TV's most terrifying teachers, Miss Hardbroom had absolutely no time for Mildred Hubble. And after reprising the role for Weirdsister College, actress Kate Duchêne didn't have time for the sequel being kept busy with roles in Casualty, Foyle's War, Family Affairs and Carey Mulligan film An Education. You might have spotted her opposite Andrew Lincoln in ITV drama Afterlife, too.
Una Stubbs – Miss Davina Batt
Una Stubbs was quite well known when she first joined the cast of The Worst Witch as the Chanting Teacher (thanks to roles in Til Death Us Do Part, Worzel Gummidge and Cliff Richard's Summer Holiday, as well as one of two team captains in long-running game show Give Us a Clue) but she's probably even better known now. She is, of course, Baker Street's most famous landlady, aka Sherlock's Mrs Hudson.
Claire Porter – Miss Imogen Drill
Miss Drill was the only non-magical member of staff at Cackle's Academy, where she served as PE teacher. She could be very strict, but also found time to help Mildred and her friends out. You might not have spotted actress Claire Porter on TV very much since, but she did pop up in Doctors and an episode of Silk.
