Harry Potter series opens "inclusive" casting call for Harry, Ron and Hermione
The casting call also confirms the filming window for the series.
It's finally almost time to welcome a new Golden Trio to screens as the Harry Potter series searches for its Harry, Ron and Hermione.
The show, which is currently in the works at HBO, has opened a casting call, calling for young actors to submit self-tapes for the leading roles and confirming that the series will film between 2025 and 2026.
The announcement is calling for children who will be aged 9 to 11 in April 2025 and who are residents of the UK and Ireland.
It also includes a note about inclusive and diverse casting, saying: “We are committed to inclusive, diverse casting.
"For every role, please submit qualified performers, without regard to ethnicity, sex, disability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other basis protected by law unless otherwise specifically indicated.”
The casting call asks actors to submit two self-tapes - but says that it shouldn't be anything from Harry Potter.
One of the videos should be a story or short poem, and the second should be the actor speaking about themselves and a family member, friend or pet they're particularly close to.

The deadline for submissions is 31st October 2024 and the casting call confirms that the website it was posted on is the only way to be considered.
Based on the books by JK Rowling, the Harry Potter series is expected to land in 2026. It was confirmed early on that the show would find a new Golden Trio, with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and co not expected to make an appearance.
Chatting to ComicBook.com, Radcliffe quashed any speculation about him making an appearance, saying: "My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh, and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere."
He continued: "So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way… but I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world, and I’m very excited to have that torch passed. But I don't think it needs me to physically pass it."
Hero Talent Group founder Nicole Tasker previously told The Times of the casting process: "The casting team will do open calls on social media, go to local drama groups and contact all the child agencies. It used to just be the big drama schools, but everything is more open now."
The Harry Potter series will arrive on Max in 2026.
