Daredevil: Born Again season 2 has dropped a major twist on viewers, leaving one principal character fighting for their life as we pass the halfway mark of the Marvel drama.

The shocking events transpired at a charity boxing match, where Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) himself stepped into the ring – but this bout proved to be anything but friendly.

Not only did his unsuspecting opponent suffer a near-fatal beatdown, but his beloved wife Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) was also bleeding out as the credits rolled – after a frantic ambush by Bullseye (Wilson Bethel).

It's not entirely clear whether Vanessa is dead, or just in critical condition, by the end of the episode, but the head injury she sustains certainly looks like it would be tough to bounce back from.

There are further earthquakes to come in season 2's second half, including Jessica Jones's return, with Krysten Ritter set to slip on the character's boots and leather jacket for the first time since 2019.

Check out a new trailer for the remaining episodes below, including an added promo for Jon Bernthal's The Punisher special, which arrives a week after the Born Again season 2 finale.

If you're excited to see what happens next, here's your updated guide to the Daredevil: Born Again season 2 release schedule as the Marvel drama makes its welcome return to Disney+.

When is Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 5 out?

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 5 will be available on Disney+ from Tuesday 14 April (in the US) or Wednesday 15 April (in the UK).

The difference in date comes down to the time difference between the UK and the US, with American audiences getting the show on Tuesday evening, which unfortunately equates to the early hours of the morning over here.

That means most UK-based viewers won't be among the first to catch each episode, as it will be past many of our bedtimes (mine included), but at least we'll have something to look forward to on Wednesday mornings.

How many episodes are in Daredevil: Born Again season 2?

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will consist of eight episodes in total.

That's one fewer than the first season, but on the bright side, a third season is confirmed to be on the way – so it's not like we'll be short on Daredevil goodness anytime soon.
