Meet the stars of Doctor Who before they were famous
From a teenage Tennant to Peter Capaldi’s stint in The Beatles, here are some of our favourite clips of Doctor Who stars before they stepped aboard the TARDIS…
David Tennant
He might be one of Britain’s best-loved stars, but everyone has to start somewhere – and David Tennant’s first acting role came when, as a 16-year-old schoolboy, he appeared in an anti-smoking film made by the Glasgow Health Board (he’s at the start, and returns again to extol the virtues of being a gasper at 3:50):
A year later, he played a sullen teen – and one of his ghostly ancestors – in a spooky 1988 episode of children’s anthology series Dramarama. Interestingly, the character was called Neil McDonald, and McDonald is David's real surname. Later, he copied the name Tennant from Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant. Okay, maybe it's not that interesting.
