Aston Villa welcome German giants Bayern Munich to Villa Park on Wednesday night in their first ever home Champions League game.

Villa, who last played in the European Cup 41 years ago, are facing Bayern in a repeat of the 1982 final which saw the English side win 2-1 in Rotterdam.

Unai Emery's side kicked off their Champions League campaign with a 3-0 win against Swiss outfit Young Boys, with Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana netting, however, their clash against Bayern will be a much tougher task.

Villa, who were held to a 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday, have won all but two of their outings so far this season and Emery will be desperate to keep up that form in front of the Villa Park faithful on Wednesday evening.

Bayern, who are top of the Bundesliga after winning four and drawing one of their five outings, hammered Dynamo Zagreb 9-2 in their first Champions League game of the season, with Harry Kane netting four times.

However, Vincent Kompany could be without the former Tottenham striker after he was forced off in their 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday due to an ankle injury.
