Sunderland begin the Régis Le Bris era with a trip to Wales to face Cardiff City this weekend.

The Black Cats have turned to the Frenchman after finishing the 2023/24 campaign without a permanent manager following the dismissal of flop boss Michael Beale as their play-off hopes petered out.

It has been a relatively quiet summer in the transfer market, however, with midfielder Alan Browne and winger Ian Poveda joining on free transfers from Preston North End and Leeds United respectively.

Cardiff enjoyed their best season in three years, finishing slap bang in the middle of the pack in 12th, and they appear to finally have some stability in the dugout after Erol Bulut signed a new contract in June.

The Bluebirds have added former Premier League players Calum Chambers and Anwar El Ghazi to Bulut's squad for the new campaign, while loan signing Wilfried Kanga will be tasked with firing the goals to boost their push for the play-offs.
