Chelsea v Liverpool is the blockbuster tie on the opening weekend of the 2023/24 Premier League season as two of last term's underachievers look to make the most of a clean slate.

The Mauricio Pochettino era has begun at Stamford Bridge, with the Argentine coach arriving over the summer to try and turn the club's fortunes around after they finished last season in 12th.

The last few months have felt a little like the changing of the guard, with Blues stalwarts like César Azpilicueta, N'Golo Kante and Mason Mount departing, but Pochettino certainly has plenty of new talent at his disposal.

It's been a similar story of out with the old and in with the new at Liverpool, with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai replacing the departed Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keïta and James Milner to rejuvenate Jürgen Klopp's midfield.

After a disappointing fifth-placed finish in 2022/23, the Reds will want to waste no time showing that they're back to their best - and a win away at Chelsea, who are yet to establish their identity under Pochettino, would be a good way to start.
