Middlesbrough are aiming to continue their perfect start to the season when they travel to newly-promoted Derby County this weekend.

Michael Carrick's promotion hopefuls kicked off their Championship campaign with a 1-0 victory against Swansea City thanks to last term's top scorer, Emmanuel Latte Lath, converting a first-half penalty.

Boro then impressively put three goals without reply past promotion rivals Leeds United in the first round of the Carabao Cup at Elland Road on Wednesday evening.

Derby, runners-up in League One in 2023/24, suffered a bruising 4-2 defeat at Blackburn on their return to the second tier, which suggests boss Paul Warne has defensive problems to solve.

The Carabao Cup provided a confidence boost for the Rams, however, as Liam Thompson and Kayden Jackson were on target in a 2-1 win against League Two outfit Chesterfield on Tuesday.
