Things look set to get worse before they get better for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United as the out-of-form Mags head to Anfield to take on Liverpool on New Year's Day.

Whatever happens, it doesn't look like a contest that will be short on entertainment and is a fitting way for the Premier League to get going in 2024.
