Middlesbrough and Swansea kick off their Championship campaigns on Saturday with both sides desperate to improve on last season.

Michael Carrick's side, who lost in the Championship play-offs in 2023, impressed in spells last season as they finished eighth in the table and four points off the top six.

Middlesbrough fell just short of making the play-offs and they'll be desperate to have another crack at promotion as they look to return to the Premier League for the first time since 2017, which was their only season in the top flight in the last 14 years.

Swansea are another ex-Premier League side who are desperate to return to their former glory. They played in the top flight from 2011-2018 but this will be their sixth consecutive Championship season since their relegation.

Luke Williams, who did a brilliant job at Notts County, is starting his first full campaign as Swansea boss after joining in January. He'll be hoping he's been able to implement his ideas in pre-season as they aim for a top-six finish this time out.
