As Fulham enter their third consecutive Premier League campaign, Marco Silva will be aiming for a piece of his surname in 2024/25 as the Carabao Cup progresses to the third round.
Fulham have started the campaign in reasonable shape with plenty of encouraging signs in the shape of Emile Smith Rowe, who has made a sizeable impact since his arrival from Arsenal.
The West London side defeated Birmingham City 2-0 in the last round of the competition with help from Jay Stansfield, who was then sold to the Blues in an eye-watering deal worth up to £20 million – more than five times the previous League One transfer record.
Preston are next on the agenda. The Championship side started the campaign with Ryan Lowe, who was sacked after one game, interim boss Mike Marsh was ditched after five days, before Paul Heckingbottom took the job on 20th August.
The former Sheffield United boss has extracted a few encouraging noises from his inherited squad so far and will expect a solid display against stern opposition this week.
